Kaiweo Marketplace Tutors

Independent Tutor Agreement

The working relationship, Tutor responsibilities, 20% commission, payout terms, tax position and platform boundaries.

Effective 18 August 2026Version 2026-08-18
Please read the complete document before returning to onboarding and confirming acceptance. Mandatory rights under applicable local law continue to apply.

1. Independent relationship

The parties intend a contract for independent tutoring services, not an employment, worker, agency, partnership or franchise relationship. You control whether to offer availability, which suitable bookings to accept and how to teach within the agreed learning outcome, safeguarding rules and platform standards.

Legal status depends on the real working relationship and applicable law, not only the name of this agreement. Any mandatory employment, worker, tax or social-protection rights that apply cannot be excluded by this wording.

2. No guaranteed work

  • Kaiweo does not guarantee enquiries, bookings, minimum hours, exclusivity or income.
  • You may provide services elsewhere, provided this does not misuse Kaiweo information, create a conflict for an accepted lesson or move Kaiweo-introduced families off-platform to avoid fees.
  • Because Tutor identity and credentials are verified, you must personally deliver accepted lessons unless Kaiweo approves a qualified substitute in writing.

3. Services and professional responsibility

  • Prepare and deliver lessons competently, punctually and in line with the learner’s agreed level and goals.
  • Maintain accurate availability, lesson records and progress reports.
  • Use suitable equipment, a reliable connection and a professional teaching environment.
  • Maintain qualifications, permissions, clearances and insurance required for your services and location.
  • Follow the Tutor Code of Conduct, safeguarding requirements and applicable law.

4. Rates, commission and earnings

You set your gross Marketplace lesson rate. Kaiweo deducts a flat 20% commission from the amount actually paid after an agreed discount. Your earnings are 80% before any separately disclosed currency-conversion or payout-provider charge and subject to valid refunds, chargebacks, fraud reversals and legally required withholding.

This Marketplace commission is separate from subscription pricing for tutoring-business owners. No 25%–20%–15% tier applies under this version.

5. Payouts

  • Provide a bank account or approved payout destination in your own name or the name of your lawful business.
  • USD, GBP, NGN and AED may be selected as payout preferences where the relevant payout rail is available. Selection does not guarantee a particular provider, settlement time or exchange rate.
  • Kaiweo may hold or delay payout while a payment settles or while identity, banking, fraud, safeguarding, dispute or compliance checks are completed.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of payout details and for charges imposed by your bank or payout provider where disclosed or outside Kaiweo’s control.

6. Taxes and expenses

You are responsible for your own equipment, business expenses, registrations, tax filings and taxes unless law requires Kaiweo to deduct or report an amount. You must provide tax information reasonably required for lawful payment or reporting.

7. Confidentiality and learner information

Use learner and family information only to deliver and support authorised Kaiweo lessons. Keep it confidential, apply reasonable security, do not copy it into personal marketing lists and delete local copies when no longer needed. Report suspected data loss, inappropriate contact or safeguarding concerns immediately.

8. Non-circumvention

Do not solicit, accept direct payment from or move a family introduced through Kaiweo to an off-platform arrangement for the purpose of avoiding Kaiweo fees, safety controls or records. Contact Kaiweo where a family requests a service that the platform does not yet support.

9. Ending the agreement

Either party may end future participation by notice through the account or support channel. Accepted bookings, unpaid balances, refunds, investigations and continuing confidentiality or safety duties must still be resolved. Kaiweo may suspend immediately where necessary to protect learners, families, payments or the platform.
