Kaiweo Marketplace Tutors

Marketplace Tutor Platform Terms & Privacy Notice

How the Marketplace works, the 20% platform fee, payments, refunds, account rules and how Kaiweo handles Tutor data.

Effective 18 August 2026Version 2026-08-18
Please read the complete document before returning to onboarding and confirming acceptance. Mandatory rights under applicable local law continue to apply.

1. Scope and parties

These terms apply to individual Tutors who create a profile, receive learner enquiries or deliver lessons through the Kaiweo Marketplace. They do not govern Kaiweo subscription plans purchased by tutoring-business owners.

By accepting these terms, you enter an agreement with the Kaiweo platform operator identified in your account, payment record or country-specific notice. Mandatory rights under the law that applies to you are not waived.

2. Eligibility and account accuracy

  • You must be legally able to provide tutoring services and enter a binding contract in your country.
  • Your identity, qualifications, experience, location, subjects, availability, rate and payout information must be accurate and kept current.
  • You must protect your login details and tell Kaiweo promptly about suspected unauthorised access.
  • Approval, verification or publication may be withheld, suspended or withdrawn where information cannot be verified or platform standards are not met.

3. Marketplace role

Kaiweo provides discovery, booking, classroom, communication, payment, record-keeping and support tools. Tutors decide whether to accept available work, set their availability and set their own gross lesson rate within platform limits. Kaiweo does not guarantee enquiries, bookings, minimum hours or income.

4. Tutor rate and 20% Marketplace fee

You set the gross lesson rate shown to families. For Marketplace lessons, Kaiweo deducts a flat platform commission of 20% from the amount actually paid by the family after any agreed discount. Your Tutor earnings are the remaining 80%, subject to refunds, chargebacks, withholding required by law and any separately disclosed currency-conversion or payout-provider charge.

Example: if a family pays $50 for a lesson, the Kaiweo fee is $10 and the Tutor earning is $40 before any separately disclosed payout conversion or transfer charge. Approximate AED, GBP, NGN or other currency displays may differ from the final converted amount. Payout currency is configured separately from the lesson-rate display currency.

Kaiweo will give reasonable advance notice of a material fee change and will require renewed acceptance where appropriate. No tiered commission applies under this version of the agreement.

5. Bookings, cancellations, refunds and chargebacks

  • Marketplace payments are collected through Kaiweo-approved payment channels; do not request direct payment from Kaiweo-introduced families.
  • Attendance, cancellation, rescheduling and refund rules shown at booking or in the Classroom apply to each lesson.
  • Kaiweo may reverse related earnings where a payment is refunded, charged back, fraudulent or linked to a lesson that was not delivered.
  • Payout timing depends on payment settlement, verification, risk review and the available payout rail for the selected country and currency.

6. Tutor data and privacy notice

Kaiweo collects account and contact information, identity and verification evidence, profile content, availability, lesson and communication records, payment and payout information, support correspondence, security logs and device or usage information. Kaiweo uses this information to create and secure accounts, verify Tutors, operate bookings and classrooms, process payments and payouts, prevent fraud, provide support, improve the service and meet legal obligations.

Public profile information may be shown to families. Private verification and payout details are restricted to authorised staff and service providers that need them. Data may be shared with payment, identity-verification, cloud, video-classroom, analytics, communications, professional-adviser and public-authority recipients where necessary and lawful. International transfers use appropriate safeguards where required.

Records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purposes, contractual records, safety, fraud prevention and legal obligations. Depending on local law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, and may complain to a competent data-protection authority. Contact support@kaiweo.com to make a privacy request.

7. Content, recordings and intellectual property

You keep ownership of original materials you create. You give Kaiweo a non-exclusive licence to host, display and process materials as needed to operate your profile, lessons and platform records. Only upload material you have the right to use. Do not record a learner or lesson unless Kaiweo provides an authorised recording feature and all required notices or consents are in place.

8. Suspension, termination and changes

Kaiweo may restrict or remove access for safety, fraud, payment risk, material breach, unlawful activity or repeated service failures. Where appropriate, Kaiweo will explain the reason and provide a route to respond. You may stop offering lessons, but obligations relating to completed bookings, payments, confidentiality, learner safety and disputes continue where applicable.

Kaiweo may update these terms for legal, safety or product changes. Material changes will be notified and may require renewed acceptance.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms, payments or privacy can be sent to support@kaiweo.com. Country-specific legal information may also be presented in your account or transaction documents.
